Tragic Shark Attack Claims Lives of Two Russian Divers

Two Russian nationals tragically lost their lives while scuba diving in Verde Island, Batangas, due to a sudden and strong current that swept them away. The incident occurred in the Pulong Bato area, where the four Russian divers were exploring. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that the dangerous current overwhelmed the divers, leading to the tragic outcome.

One of the missing divers was found after the search operation and was promptly taken to a hospital, but unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival. Several hours later, around 5:50 p.m., the body of the second missing diver was recovered. The Coast Guard mentioned that this victim had lost an arm during the ordeal.

The PCG’s Substation Isla Verde raised concerns that the incident might have been a result of a shark attack, highlighting that sharks are known to frequent the waters in that area. The details surrounding the tragic deaths of the two Russian nationals while scuba diving serve as a grim reminder of the risks that come with exploring the ocean's depths.
